Karol (LAS FUERTES’ Founder): “Nico! After returning from my volunteering service in Madagascar, I have decided to develop a project in Isla Fuerte, Colombia. I know we have worked together in the past, and that is why I would like to have you on board!”

LAS FUERTES (THE STRONG ONES) is a project based on menstrual education that benefits and empowers the girls and adolescents living in Isla Fuerte; a beautiful island located in Colombia’s Caribbean region.
A first trip to the island allowed Musgo to be inspired by the community’s warm spirit, their culture, stories, and of course, the beautiful island itself.
While taking pictures and recording videos to create an audiovisual library for future campaigns, Musgo started to explore creative styles to reflect the vibrancy of Isla Fuerte, while portraying the need of raising awareness around menstrual education and youth empowerment.
Debunking taboos, myths, and beliefs that affected many generations of women in the island, and also in Colombia, raised an opportunity through social design, and the developing of visual assets supporting the spirit of LAS FUERTES.
Surveys, workshops, dynamic activities with the girls and adolescents of the island, and Karol’s interaction with the community have been key components to create LAS FUERTES' personality.
Musgo was able to design and produce a wide array of visual assets, including a first documentary with the contribution of amazing talent.
